Office for school transport

The service for school transport of the CCG manages the daily transport of about 1500 pupils on special routes and regular bus lines (public urban transport).

Last minute information :

Registration of your child for school transport ended 30th June. For pupils who are still waiting for their school reports or validation of their studies registration is extended till mid July.

However any pupil who has to use the school transportation may register till the beginning of term.

The Genevois organises its school transport:

To run the 25 special lines the CCG receives a subvention from the Conseil Général corresponding to the tariff agreed on by the transport company. For the regular bus lines the transport companies are paid directly by the Conseil Général.

Communes outside the canton served by the busses (Frangy-Chaumont, Cercier-Marlioz-Contamines-Minzier, Cruseilles and Eloise-Clarafond.), for the pupils from those villages who attend Mme de Staël grammar school.

Annual costs for this transport are about 900 Euros per pupil, although in 2005 each pupil was asked to pay a contribution fee of only 18€.

The same rate is applied till 30th June 2007; after that date the fee for registration will be 46 Euros.

Awareness campaign for security

Each year the 11-year-old pupils (1^st year of secondary school or Year7) participate in an awareness campaign for the security in busses: proper behaviour, relation to the driver, how to get on and off a bus rapidly, how to react in case of accident ...

The responsible person of the school transport service regularly meets the heads of the transport companies to manage and coordinate possible problems.
