Responsibilities

The fields of intervention of the Community :

Development of space

  • Follow-up, implement and revise the

Economic development

  • Creation, completion, management and promotion of the economic business park of the Sites of Archamps, Cervonnex and Le Châble-Beaumont.
  • Actions of economic development within the Community as :
    • actions to promote the economic network,
    • construction, completion and management of intermediary workshops and business incubators,
    • actions to favour the links of the different schools and university with companies,
    • actions to favour scientific research at the Sites of Archamps and Cervonnex,
    • actions to favour the spreading of internet throughout the territory,
    • development actions together with the Swiss partners in the fields of economic and scientific cross-border development,
    • conducting promotion operations towards tourism by the means of the tourist information office.

Protection and development of the environment

  • Supervise the contract between the rivers Arve and Rhone and participate in the contract of the Usses.
  • Waste water :
    • Collective : creation, service, management and renovating of sewage plants (including the transport of sludge)
    • Individual : control of private installations. ·        
    • Drinking water
      • Additional supply of drinking water from water tanks of the Community,
      • prospecting and integrating new sources to the network of the Community,
      • integration of existing sources into the network of the Community on demand of the communes who are the owners,
      • collaboration with the Swiss partners according to the international convention concerning the Geneva water sheet and create a development program for drinking water for the whole cross-border basin.
    • Household refuse
      • Collecting and processing of household refuse and associated activities: the waste recycling centres.

Policy of housing and living environment

  • Elaboration "and follow up" of a local housing program (PLH).
  • Collaboration with the Swiss partners within a cross-border housing program (PDHT).

Policy in favour of sport

  • Construction, management and maintenance of sports equipment constructed by the Community and planned by the SCOT.

Policy towards associations and organisations

Support of actions or events responding to one of the two criteria:

  • Connected to the territory of the Community and of interest to a large population
  • A unique or specific character.

Concerning cultural and sports activities :

  • Participation in the twinning between the St. Julien canton and Mössingen (Baden Württemberg).
  • Financial help to organisations who coordinate activities on the territory of the Community like for instance the association of young firemen or the association of football clubs of the Genevois.

Concerning schools :

  • Participation in the expenses for the swimming activities of the secondary schools of the canton.
  • Support of social educational institutions and their sports associations.
  • Support of projects of educational activities and of pedagogical projects with environmental, European or humanitarian interest developed by these institutions.

Social policy

  • Creation and management of an Agency for Childminders-Parents-Children.
  • Support of public policies in favour of populations in difficulties like for instance the 'Mission Locale' for employment or the association of streetworkers.
  • Participation in reflections on a policy towards help for employment.
  • Coordination of institutions which receive elderly people and the nursing service at home.

Fire fighting

  • Responsibilities according to the agreed conventions between the fire and first aid service of the department (departmentalisation).

Other interventions

In the frame of their fields of responsibilities the CCG may carry out studies, missions or conduct the management of services after having been asked for by one or more communes.

Such intervention demands either specific conventions in which the financial modus is defined or the delegation to undertake the contract.
