68 representatives to serve 17 communes

The Community council

The municipal councillors of each member commune choose their representatives in the Community council of the CCG. The number of seats and thus votes for each municipality is proportional to the number of their inhabitants according to the following rules (art.3 of the statutes of the CCG).

  • The municipality with the highest population has 11 delegates.

  • All other municipalities are represented by 2 delegates plus 1 delegate for each eighth of the population of the commune with the highest population. (e.g. the commune of Viry has 3095 inhabitants, which represents 3/8 of the population of St. Julien. Thus Viry sends to the 2 delegates 3 additional delegates into the community council.)

The council of the Community

The council is the deliberating organ of the Community of the associated communes and has its sessions about every six weeks. All members decide about the actions engaged by the council. They vote for the deliberations to be carried out after having been controlled by the Prefect for being legal.

The board

This is another deliberating organ of the Community with sessions once a month. The board deliberates according to the delegations defined by the council. The council elects its members from a list of candidates proposed by the member communes.

The executive committee

The committee is composed of the president and 7 vice-presidents meeting each Monday. The committee is assisted by the head of each division and helps the president to organise the current affairs and to organise the work of the commissions.

The president

The president together with the different divisions of the CCG executes the resolutions of the council and the board.

The 16 commissions

They prepare the decisions of the board or the council in subjects corresponding to the responsibilities of the CCG.
