Battle against pollution: at periods of high water elevated levels of nitrate are registered which derive on one hand from households, or from agriculture or simply from surface water.
A general waste water collection, a management of agricultural pollution and the pollution arising from traffic infrastructure appears to be necessary.
In concrete terms: in 2006 the SPANC was created and with it 10 projects were undertaken which had been partly planned with the river contract. These projects consisted generally in the installation of containers, a rehabilitation of the banks and the maintenance of the pipe network.
Actions against inundation: the efficient maintenance of the banks, the instalment of humid zones and the removal of rubbish dumps may as well contribute to saving lives and belongings.
Such actions do as well contribute to a better image of the rivers as well as the conservation of the countryside.
In concrete terms: the installation of a detention reservoir, an overflow ditch and spillway made it possible to secure the area around the rivers.
Communication and awareness campaign: A good communication is necessary to contribute to the co-ordination of the actions of the French and Swiss administrations.
Any person, either delegates from the communes, technical staff or pupils, may obtain all information about the river contracts either through a brochure or an educational presentation.
