The network supplies the tanks every day, in emergency and at a time of shortage with drinking water for 16 of the 17 communes of its territory which represents more than 33,000 inhabitants.
The water comes from two wells which pump at a capacity of 6,000 m³. The main pipes and the two branch pipes of the network measure a total length of 55.5 km.
The CCG delegated the exploitation of this installation to the Services Industriels de Genève (SIG) for the period from 1st January 2003 till 31st December 2008.
The CCG exploits two water bearing resources :
The 30 tanks of the Community are connected to the network by means of float valves looked after by the SIG. The exploitation and the maintenance of the tanks as well as their sources are the responsibility of each commune.
