What is the metropolitan project
Franco-Vaud-Geneva?
Presentation
The agglomeration Franco-Vaud-Geneva is composed of 196 urbane,
suburban and rural communes - 45 in the Genevois, 40 in Vaud
and 111 in France – where there are today about 730.000
inhabitants.
During
the last decades the rapid development
and limits of space in the Genevois did influence largely the
permeability of the border by integrating several peripheral
spaces into a metropolitan dynamic.
This
strong and rapid « metropolitan integration » means a
chance for the territory but also carries a real risk which has
to be faced with a strong cooperation. Already for many years
there have been cross-border relations between several
institutions like the Conseil du Léman ou le Comité
régional franco-genevois (CRFG). The metropolitan project
represents an additional step towards the cross-border
cooperation. The everyday life of
the population will be easier and fulfill their wishes. The
territory of the Franco-Vaud-Geneva needs efficient tools of
cooperation beyond the administrative borders in order to prepare
the future.
